Assessment purpose
The purpose of this assessment is to develop your understanding of the importance of the Arts in children’s education and your knowledge and understanding of Arts elements and constructs relevant to the Arts Curriculum and EYLF. Additionally, you will start to explore professional learning opportunities and ideas for improving your skills (APST 6.2).
Assessment description
In this task you will critically reflects on the importance of the Arts in young children’s education and provide an analysis of the benefits to individuals and society, with reference to relevant contemporary Arts education literature.
You will also be required to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the content and structure of the Arts in the F-2 Australian Curriculum and in the Early Years Learning Framework, including:
Arts concepts/elements.
F-2 content descriptions and elaborations, and Achievement Standards, as they relate to the five learning outcomes of the EYLF.
The theoretical foundations for learning and professional learning.
Assessment details
Use the following steps to complete this task.
Step 1: Examine the rubric and understand the level of expectation (cognitive verbs) for the task. You will find a cognitive verb meaning list from the QCAA in the assessment support materials.
Step 2: Complete required reading, arts area studies and learning week materials. It would be expected that a PASS level task would have a minimum of seven academic references in addition to the text, curriculum documentation and APSTs.
Step 3: Use assignment template given for this task.
Note that the reference section is not included in the word count.
Ensure you know the APA7 requirements for referencing and style.
